skiing and... snowy mornings on the side of the highway?

So yea, Saturday was the day.  Inch and I were going to meet Matt at Liberty mountain.  We were having some high school kids come with us, because we all lead Younglife and kinda love teenagers.  Anyway, Inch stays over Friday, and we headed out at 6:20am.  (Yes, I know - too early to be awake on a Saturday, but we were going SKIING!!)  So we grab RipLOL and head up to the mountain.  Well our other high school friends bailed, because it started snowing.  Meanwhile, we are still driving up to the mountain, and the snow sets in.  Within a few minutes, we were sliding all over 270 North, and ended up on the side of the road.  This was scary for me, because the last time I was driving in the snow, someone ran through a red light and hit me head on.  Well, this was a minor accident (although her car says otherwise!)
We waited on a hill for almost 2 hours for the police to come, and in the meantime had some very attractive looking fire and emergency medical people stop by just to make sure we were ok.  That was nice :-)  ... although I was hoping to not see any of them this year.  Oh well, the accident-prone streak continues!
But a few hours later we had a baller rental car, and still were able to make it to the mountain!  Matt was already working by then, but we were able to enjoy a nice 8 hours on the slopes!  I tackled the moguls, beat RipLOL down the mountain (even though he cheated!), and had a great time with some awesome people.  Then I traded in my skis for a snowboard.  I am slowly learning.  But it was a great experience.  Maybe I'll be able to sit down again in a week ;-P

So... I'm also doing the Biggest Loser competition with my office.  Before I wasn't too concerned with losing weight.  But I am really competitive and want the cash prize.  Also, I found some new motivation to look really good by the end of the summer.  And I mean REALLY good.  Hot may be an understatement.

And the big news, is that JacK and I are gonna run The Cherry Blossom 10 Miler AGAIN!  And this time, I do not plan on getting in a car accident to derail my training.  Last year I was terrible about getting pictures, so I will really try to do better this year.  And, the details are not confirmed yet, but I can't do the Virginia Beach Rock 'n' Roll half marathon this year, because of Yelena and Walter's wedding (yay!), so... this is the one I'm gonna do!  (Running for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society the day before my baby sister's birthday in the city that she lives in?  Heck Yes!)
